Aliens
Human contact with alien races began, with something of a rush, in 4588:
first contact, with the Dargothans in their home system of Cardinale.
It should be noted, however, that true first contact was made by the Sha'Har
some 227 years previously during their exodus, prior to the crossing of
the Gulf of Tears. After League contact with the Dargothans, and the realisation
that a thriving trading civilisation existed extraterrestrially. Contact
and informal relations with the Hilachet and Squoroshelp followed promptly.
On the subject of aliens, it is worth noting that the 'Alien Scare' of
4669-71 was a propaganda device generated by the League Intelligence Service's
Bureau 19.
Alpha-Centauri,
system
The first system colonised by the nascent Old Empire, starting 4175, and
one of the most fiercely contested volumes in all three Colony Wars.
Aurora,
system
Interchangeable reference to the Aurora system, surveyed 4523, and Aurora
3, the only habitable world, settled by refugees over the following century.
Orginally known for its thriving artistic community and the ancient 'Rook'
artifacts in close solar orbit, Aurora was devastated by the Sha'Har in
4670, and has since been preserved as a war memorial. Continued solar
instability has also served to discourage subsequent resettlement.
